So about how I had to call 911 for the first time ever last night...

I woke up at 3:30 am, not a common occurrence for me, I wasn’t happy about it.  Then around 3:45 I heard the front doorbell ring, also not a common occurrence.  My roommate was home and sleeping, so I ignored it.  Then I heard steps in the front stairwell, so I assumed it was for my neighbors.

A little while later I heard knocking on our back door.  No one ever uses this door, so I became worried.  Whoever it was then tried to open the door and started to bang louder.  It couldn’t have been my landlord since they would have shouted our names.  I called and txted my roommate but he didn’t pick up.  My bedroom door makes a lot of noise when you open it, so I didn’t want whoever was banging to know someone was awake.

So I finally called 911.  Who I then had to explain that yes, I have a roommate, yes, it’s a guy, and yes, we have separate bedrooms (clearly it’s very important to determine I live with a guy who is not my boyfriend at 4 am in the morning).  Finally the dispatcher said another officer had already been called to our house by another apartment.  So I’m thinking, “oh great, it is a burglar, and the police are already on their way.”

Finally the dispatcher announced there was a sleepwalking incident.  I was confused.  Apparently what happened is my roommate’s friend who was spending the night sleptwalked our of our apartment, got confused and woke up our neighbors.

Awesome, right?

Thanks to the Cambridge police for helping us out, not laughing to our faces and actually telling me I did the right thing by calling 911.  Where was my roommate during this time?  He slept through the entire thing.
